Mary Williams is the kitchen designer behind En Studio design. Her aesthetic is sophisticated, using clean lines and an affinity for neutrals. Her work is inspired by some of the most beautiful regions of the world—the South of France and Tuscany. I opted to use an architectural detail from a gate that I had photographed during a trip to Florence, incorporating a fleur de lis pattern. That particular iconography appears in both Italian and French cultures, which was the right feeling for what we were looking for.
